Our Success...

Mid Columbia Bus Company, Inc, and its operating subsidiaries including Western States Bus Services, Inc., have been in the pupil transportation business for school districts since 1956, over 50 years of experience. During this entire period of time MIDCO and the Flatt family have been actively involved in the operation of home-to-school, kindergarten, special needs, pre-school, activity bus, and motor coach transportation for pupil transportation systems. The focus of this company has been, and will remain, operating in rural areas of the Pacific Northwest.

It all began as a small trucking business in Eastern Oregon, Flatt's Truck Service, moving mail and freight between the small rural communities, tying into the railroad stations and the rural residents. In 1956 Bill Flatt and his wife Peggie decided to bid on the school bus transportation for the Condon School District in Oregon. This was the beginning of the Flatt family's involvement in the contracted school transportation business. For the first time the yellow bus was a part of the Flatt trucking operation.

Presently, MIDCO's transportation fleet, which includes Western States Bus Services, Inc., operates more than six hundred (600) buses and support vehicles.

Even with this growth in Districts served and fleet vehicles operated, MIDCO/WSBS is still a family owned and operated business with all of the owners being involved and hands-on in their approach to safety, service and quality provided to our customers, at all levels of the operation.

It’s All About Kids, Employees, & Customers!!  At Mid Columbia Bus Company we realize that we are carrying the most precious cargo in the would --- your children. Therefore, the primary goal is safety. Our employees are training in our safety programs, Special needs training, and disaster training. Each bus is inspected daily for safety and mechanical issues. It is MIDCO’s intent to treat the journey of home to school as an extension of the classroom and ensure that students arrive safely and with an attitude that is contusive to learning. Complimenting our school bus services is Mid Columbia Charter Services. This fleet of motor-coaches is used extensively to transport school children, Bands, choirs, clubs, group tours, parent booster and private charters.
